How to Store Bacon in the Freezer

 

 

My aunt is a little quirky and loves to get the kids funny gifts for christmas. This year she gave them packages of bacon! My 11 year old son thought this was the best gift ever. We rarely use a whole pack of bacon in one meal. So I wanted to find ways to store the bacon so the kids could take out 1-2 slices at a time to cook for breakfast or to put on  a sandwich for lunch. I found two different methods for freezing bacon.

Method one for storing bacon in the freezer:

This method works well for storing it in a smaller space and for being able to take out and thaw one or two pieces at a time.

Roll the bacon slices individually and place on a plate lined with wax paper or parchment paper. place the plate flat in the freezer until bacon is frozen. then you can put the bacon wraps in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer. You can take out the desired number of pieces and allow them to defrost, then unroll them and cook as you usually would.

How to freeze bacon

 

This method allows you to store bacon in the freezer in a  smaller space. But having to defrost them before being able to unroll them can be difficult of you want to cook it for breakfast and forget to take it out the night before. That is why I found a second method for freezing bacon that allows you to take out a frozen slice of bacon and cook it immediately.
